![Grain elevators and storage bins are limited in the amount they can store before grain is shipped to processing centers. After the elevators are filled, they often make huge piles of grain for temporary or emergency storage. If it appears that the grain will remain for some time it is covered, usually with a tarp that is either weighted down or by using fans to suck air out of the piles making negative pressure to hold the tarps in place.](https://wam.org//wp-content/uploads/2020/12/2019.13.14.jpg)
