About the Artwork

“Amateur psychiatrist friends have had a delightful time, as have I, in their efforts to explain why the Mother and Child is a subject that I use most frequently. I think that the reason is, as it is in the case of the Musician and Instrument, which is my second most common subject. That it is a vehicle in which I can best express myself and in which I am most likely to be understood. Each sculptor builds over the years his own vocabulary of forms. He naturally tends toward those subjects, which lend themselves to that familiar vocabulary.”
