About the Artwork

This oil on paper was created as part of a series of images of Mojave dolls made of clay in New Mexico and Southern Arizona. Although bizarre in appearance, they are not fetishes. They are decorative pieces made for children (and tourists.) Bad Girl II is the largest in the series, which were done in the 1980s. The brilliant colors used in Bad Girl II have been referred to, by the artist, as from his “Revlon period.”
