About the Artwork

Like other Prairie Print Makers, Leo Courtney was a commercial artist who also made fine art prints. Working primarily as a block printmaker, Courtney depicted urban and rural Kansas scenes, featuring the state’s landscape, industry, and people. Courtney also loved the Southwest, which he visited frequently with his friend and Prairie Print Maker founder C. A. Seward. Less prolific than many of the other Prairie Print Makers, Courtney prints are relatively rare.
