Free day for “Alex Katz: Theater and Dance”—celebrating dance, theater, and technical artistry through the first comprehensive exploration of Katz’s inventive collaborations with choreographers, dancers, and avant-garde theater ensembles over six decades.
Family ArtVenture celebrates dance, theater, and stagecraft with activities throughout the museum, including in the exhibition “Alex Katz: Theater and Dance.” Presented with Harvester Arts, the program features dancers, storytelling, puppetry, clowning, and hands-on artmaking for visitors of all ages. Admission is free and open to the public.

Did you know WAM produced an original documentary for the exhibition “Safer Waters: Picturing Black Recreation at Midcentury”? Edited by Wichita filmmaker Maliq Little of Leak Productions, the film explores a central Florida lake resort for Black visitors (1949–1969) through the perspectives of artist Stephen Towns and those who experienced it. Join curator Dr. Tera Lee Hedrick and editor Maliq Little as they share the story behind the documentary and Towns’ work.
