Ponder This: Spoken Word Performance
About this Event
Spoken Word occupies a central place in African American culture and history. As an art form, particularly in Harlem Renaissance poetry readings with Langston Hughes and others, spoken word evolved as a resonant artistic expression. Today’s spoken word artists pull from blues music, oral tradition, spiritual song, hip-hop, and slam poetry.
Come for a second night this fall with this cool artist collaborative in Wichita. If you haven’t experienced this art form or group yet, you are truly missing out!
NOTE: As an art form, the expression and perspective is brash and hard-hitting and will not suit all audiences.
Galleries open until 6 pm.
Tickets are $15 for the public, $10 for WAM members, and available at the door. Capacity limited to 200 people on a first-come, first-admitted basis.
