WAM is proud to support youth across Kansas by hosting the statewide GLSEN Prom.

GLSEN (the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network) is an American education organization working to end discrimination, harassment, and bullying based on sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression and to promote LGBTQ+ cultural inclusion and awareness in K–12 schools.

Many students do not feel comfortable attending traditional proms at their high schools due to restrictions such as whom they may bring and how they may dress. The purpose of Kansas’ GLSEN Prom is to provide a safe and affirming space for LGBTQ+ high school students.
