Howard E. Wooden Lecture Series
For many just perusing our website, the name Howard E. Wooden might not strike a chord. But for those who were in the community during the late seventies and eighties, it is the name of a much-loved former director whose name should encourage you to read on. An endowed annual lecture series was inaugurated by FWAM to commemorate the tenure of this wise and tenacious director who brought vim and vigor to art lectures and under whose tutelage our art museum experienced not only steady growth but also a significant increase in the size of the museum’s collection. Previous lectures: B. Byron Price - the director of the Charles M. Russell Center for the Study of Art of the American West, University of Oklahoma. He is a former director of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City and of the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming. His most recent book is Fine Art of the West. Dr. Hollis S. Clayson, Northwestern University professor who presented new points of view and challenged the audience to think outside the box. “”Mother and Child”?
