WAM Contemporaries is a group of hip and sophisticated adults under 50 (whether in age or spirit) who are interested in the same goal - attending fabulous parties and events and broadening their network of friends while supporting the museum and the Wichita community.
Welcome to the WAM Contemporaries Homepage!
With the help of our annual “Color” party sponsors, Bank of America, TCK, Equity Bank and Pottsgallery.com, the WAMC’s have been able to financially contribute to the museum’s FREE monthly family event, Family ArtVenture. This wonderful event provides families with an adventure in art each month, with a new theme and activity.
Check out the next two Family ArtVentures:
Saturday, May 22nd – A Portrait of Native American Life - Photographer Edward S. Curtis depicted the "vanishing races" of Native North Americans. Explore his beautiful portraits and pictures of Native American ways of life, and then make you own work of art.
Saturday, June 26th - Colorful Stamps and Prints - Landscape painter and printmaker Leon Loughridge makes beautiful color woodblock prints. Explore his technique and experiment with your own color stamps in the studio.
Remember Join the Contemporaries at Final Friday in July. On July 31st. begin your Final Friday at WAM with drinks and fellow art lovers. Make dinner reservations at The Muse, then enjoy an amazing meal and wander the galleries.
A past note about our successful annual “color” party:
Our Fourth Annual party was called “Purple”, and what an amazing night of pinks and purples with the shadow dancers performing the night away. The salsa band and dancers kept the dance floor blazing, and the cocktails and tapas were tantalizing! The night would not have been complete without the cutting edge technology provided by IMG, and live artist Michael Potts. All this to help support the Wichita Art Museum in its 75th year!
Cheers!
