architects Sam Frey of Schaefer Johnson Cox Frey Architecture, Brent Bowman of Bowman, Bowman, Novick, Inc., Manhattan, KS, Charles K. Steiner, Executive Director of the Museum, and Martha Linsner of TCK Trust & Financial Advisors.
“We were surprised by some of the entrants, but they obviously put a lot of thought and effort into envisioning our Museum for the future,” says Martha Linsner. “The designs were imaginative and compelling”.
Architect Sam Frey enjoyed participating on the jury. “It’s an interesting challenge that we’ve offered the students. The competition presented a tremendous, open palette for the students,” says Frey. “The three award-winning submittals, demonstrate the breadth of opportunity, some very poetic, some very rational and pragmatic.” The competition has been jointly organized by the Museum and Schaefer Johnson Cox Frey Architecture.
The exhibition Student Visions: The Museum in 75 Years (2085), will show from October 3, 2010 through January 9, 2011.
