All dates and party themes subject to change.FEB. 2 - BLUA follow-up to the unber-successful RED, our annual event will be a cool Contmporaries evening with an encore performance by the Bobby Yang band, an ABSOLUT martini bar, and the return of the popular "wi-fitti" in the choicest setting around!
MAR. 27 - MUSEUM TOUR"Beind the scenes at WAM" led by Stephen Gleissner. Learn about the art through the lives of the artists - a litle bit of education and a lot of gossip! Enjoy cocktails and hor d'ouerves afterward.
MAY 2 - BACCHUS The Rascal "A Wine Event"When and where was the grape born? Who was the woman believed to have discovered wine? Who was Bacchus before he was promoted to god of wine? What aromatic compound in wine stimulates the libido? These and other fascinating aspects of the world of wine are contained in a multi-media presentation entitled, "Bacchus the Rascal, A Bacchanalian History of Wine Seen Through 4,000 Years of Art." It is a vibrant, humourous presentation, as any Bacchanalian history should be. In homage to the age-old intertwining of wine and art, Mr. Jan Shrem, owner of Clos Pegase winery, created the presentation as a survey of wine's ancient sources and the art it has inspired. The result from a quarter of a century of research, it begins with the birth of the grape and the origin of wine as illustrated in Egyptian tomb paintings and Roman mosaics. We then meander through over 100 wine-related images from such artists as DaVinci, Rembrandt, Dali, Picasso, and Chagall, finishing with our comtemporay homage to wine. $55 for members, $80 for non-members.
JULY 26 - SUMMERDon your whites for a Hampton’s style event from 7:00 to 11:00 pm. $50 for members, $75 for non-members.
SEPT. 26 - WAMC SUPPORTS WICHITA FINAL FRIDAYJoin your fellow WAMC members on September 26th for final Friday at the Wichita Art Museum. The event is sponsored by Spirit Aerosystems and is from 5-8 pm. Enjoy the music of John Goolsby and the works of featured artists. WAMC members will enjoy a VIP room with Spirit aviations Search group.
NOV. 6 - CELEBRATE FALLWAM Contemporaries: Celebrate Fall (Themed dinner by Olive Tree) Thursday, 6 November, 2008 06:00 pm. A bountiful dinner designed to wet your entertaining appetite and inspire you for the upcoming holiday season.
